Voted on by her peers, Mrs. Amy Williams has been named the Academy for Careers and Technology Honor Roll Teacher of the Year for 2016. In a celebration ceremony held on the morning of March 9, 2016, Mrs. Williams and the faculty and staff were treated to breakfast biscuits, fruit and orange juice to recognize Mrs. Williams and her dedication to  her students and to teaching. Mrs. Williams is the Nail Technology instructor in the morning block and instructs Cosmetology 1 & 2 during the afternoon block. She has been teaching at the ACT for four years and has seen much success in the revived Nail Technology program. During the 2014-2015 school year, she had 100% of her students pass the state licensing test for nail technicians. After the students received their scores she set up interviews and demonstrations for shops in the area to meet the students. This allowed several students to receive job offers for the summer and beyond. Mrs. Williams is always bringing the latest techniques and skills to her classroom. As a practicing cosmetologist herself, she has to remain on the cutting edge of the industry to remain competitive and in demand. Her colleagues commented on her dedication to her students, commitment to excellence, and being “real” with her students. Congratulations to Mrs. Williams, the ACT Teacher of the Year!
